Bringing in 2018

While most kids are still enjoying their winter break, our schooling doesn't really take breaks! We school year round because we learn through life. Today being New Years Eve was no exception. Here's a little of how we spent our time today!

* We started out by doing our Journal Work this morning and reading the book "A Christmas Sled"

* We made a 2018 Wishing Tree which the kids LOVED.

* We watched the movie Harry and the Henderson's. Axle really got into it. I have them watch older movies quite often and they always seem to enjoy them.

* We ate Pizza and it was so good!!!

* We made pictures by blowing our paint through a straw. Axle's not big on painting projects usually but he really enjoyed this one.

* We learned that 2017 was about over and that the year ahead would be 2018. We also learned that the change happened at midnight.

* We hung balloons from 6:00-Midnight and the kids popped them every hour. Annalee kept a watch in her hand all evening looking for that watch hand to be on the 12.

* We made rainbow chip cupcakes that tasted yummy

* We played some Minute to Win It Games

* We also played some Air Hockey

* We listened to Auld Lang Syne and talked about how it was the traditional New Years Song

* FINALLY midnight came and we watched the ball drop on TV & welcomed in the year with whistles, party hats and confetti poppers

I'd say it was quite a successful New Years Eve Celebration with some learning and fun all mixed into one!

Tomorrow we will join my parent's for another family tradition "Stuffed Cabbage"
